Josh is an Oscar-shortlisted producer & director based in Los Angeles.
His work has premiered at Sundance, True/False, SXSW, TIFF, DOC NYC and Hot Docs; been featured by The New York Times, Vimeo Staff Picks and Dazed & Confused Magazine; and screened in documentary courses at UCLA, Dartmouth College, The New School, Vassar College and the Maine Media Workshops.
Most recently, his debut feature documentary MexMan premiered in competition at Slamdance where it won Grand Jury and Audience honors, and a doc short he produced, Charlie Tyrell’s My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes, premiered at Sundance, won the Jury Prize at SXSW, became a New York Times Op-Doc, and was Oscar-shortlisted.
Josh lead produced the first season of the Duplass Brothers’ indie-animated series Animals., which premiered at Sundance and sold for 2 seasons to HBO; Manson Family Vacation which premiered at SXSW and sold to Netflix; and Jason Tippet and Elizabeth Mims’ Only the Young which won at AFI Fest and Cinema Eye Honors and sold to Oscilloscope Laboratories.
Since 2015 he has run the Virtual Reality production company Beard & Glasses VR with Rory Mitchell, and together they’re producing a forthcoming feature documentary about the Los Angeles radio station, 89.9FM KCRW.
